The tenth European Green Operations Award (2019) winner, awarded by Yourope and GO Group Europe, was revealed at the European Festival Awards ceremony at ESNS Eurosonic Noorderslag in Groningen as Open Air St Gallen. It is considered the ‘green’ Oscar of the European festival scene.

The awards nominations were some of Europes mos’t inspirational sustainabale festivals; 

• Electric Castle (ROM)
• OpenAir St.Gallen (CH)
• Øyafestivalen (NO)
• PortAmérica (ES)
• Roskilde Festival (DK)
• We Love Green (F)

The GO Award is awarded for great performance, and a significant contribution to developing more sustainable events. Open Air St. Gallen has been been a front-runner for some 15 years, pushing new ways to manage energy, fair trade merch, local food & beverage, water, communication, partnerships etc. In 2019 alone they achieved a decrease of 30% in carbon emissions.

Holger Jan Schmidt, ‘European green anchorman’ presented the award as one of the European Festival Awards.
